A rework of an old test for showreel. Going to composite some background and foreground element.
Any suggestion ? I am thinking some jungle natural environment.

cool character:) A jungle background would be cool. I'd look a purple, blueish colors in the background (Like a forest in shadow) rather than green though to lift the character. Maybe have the lizard in a yellow light. Kinda like the color schemes in these picts

Cheers WORZ ! This is a WIP showreel im working on with my old and new works. Been looking at it for such a long time so i think some fresh eye
would help me pick up something in term of composition, color, mood, or even song. If theres anything about the actual portfolio
3d piece, will see how lol.

I felt the man's head at the end was the most impressive piece, I think having that first on your reel would make a better impression.

I found the environment at the start was difficult to focus on, which I think was because the background is out of focus, but your eyes are very much drawn there because it's so bright and framed by the dark foreground. That also makes it a bit harder to look at the foreground elements, because my eyes keep wanting to return to the bright background - the issue there being all your detail is in that little bit of dark foreground stuff. Should perhaps the background be in focus, and the foreground out of focus, and add detail to the midground and background?

For the robot/android turntable, it seemed odd that the closeup on the left stopped with her back to us. Not sure if that was just how it ended up, or if you wanted to show off that light on her back, but I think ending more on the 29-30 second mark is a nicer pose to finish with.

Last thing would be the turntable of the woman's head - her eyes are distracting being so reflective. It is rendering them very washed out. Since it's not a textured turntable, it would probably be better to make the eyes the same material as the skin, or maybe just remove the reflectivity.

Good work on the content!

wow this really help a lot. Yeh now u mention, its really hard to focus on the environment. I put it first cause i thought it will help as an establishing shot lol. Mayb i will remove the environment piece cause its not really a strong one.

As for the robot, I end it at the back thinking it might look cooler with that pose and yeh the light thing. I will render more frame so it end at the front.

For the head, i also think its my strongest piece, so my thought is that I start with it on shaded at the intro and end with it with the final render. I think it didnt send out this message...

The lady eye can be fix easily, just need to rerender.

Thanks for your help again worz, always pull me out from my own imagination swirl.

Heya, this is the revised version based on worz crit. Took out the environment piece and added in some still image of game assets.
Anymore idae/crit would be awesome again. No crit/opinion too small to post. Gonna put in more works as time goes.

Heaps better! Good to see wireframes of the head too. Looks a lot better with all that stuff at the beginning.

Been a while, have not done much personal stuff lately :( but gonna keep it going !
This is a creature bust design done for participating on the "CreatureCreature" exhibition organized by Industry of Imagination down in Wellington. Really appreciate the opportunity this event gave to other artist like me to go through an exhibition experience like printing an artwork and getting it framed. Check out the website.
