Hi there,

I thought I would contribute here,
so here is a 3d version of the Prince of Egypt I did for fun.

Comments are welcome.

Cheers,

Impressive. That's a very surreal and stylish character. Would you mind detailing some of your workflow? (e.g. 3D package => sculpt or textures from images?)

Thanks Lancer, I used maya for base mesh, then mudbox for refining the model and textures. Then Maya hair for the hair, maya fur for the eyebrwos, eyelashes and beard.
Rendered in Renderman for maya and compositing done in shake.

Cheers Sasmo :)

Hey PascalR, welcome to the forum! Great work dude. Just looking at those 3 hair clumps on the forehead, I noticed that directly around the tips of the two side ones the skin is brighter although it seems to be in shadow (or casting shadow). The middle hair clump doesn't have that effect... was that a result of 'global illumination' or similar?

Thanks Roger!

Good eye, I actually add to render the hair occlusion in 2 passes as maya hair strands wouldn't be calculated in the point cloud. So I add to bake the occlusion using a piece of geo first, therefore there is a small discrepancy in the occlusion :)

Cheers

P.

Oh wow, I love it. You've captured the essence of the 2D character very well in 3d

I remember seeing this piece posted in the Area Mudbox forum way back when. One of my favorites, along with the Gambit piece done by another artist. Thought it was awesome then, know it is still awesome now.

Great render and I look forward to a walkthrough...ahem..<nudge><nudge><hint><hint>

Great work; would love to know your maya hair workflow, I've used it in the past but never with results like those.
