Hey guys here is my final image from our “Still Life” project at Media Design School.
The was a 4 week project that took us through the different modules we had learnt so far. The brief tasked us with creating a 3d “Still Life” that should represent a theme or story.

My idea was to portray the unmasking of the killer using the game Cluedo. I was toying with the idea of the murderer finally being revealed as all the evidence is being presented by the one of the house guests like from those old murder mystery tv shows.

The general workflow that we went through consisted of -

Pre-Production: story, references, lighting, colour and compositional studies for our shot.

Photography: photo shoot, set measurements (lights, props etc.) and a camera move to help for 3d camera match.

Production: Scene creation based on previous scene measurements or camera match created from the camera tracking in nuke. Characters base meshes were made then sculpted and textured in mudbox. Props were modelled in Maya and textured in photoshop. Rendered in Mental Ray and split into Foreground, Background and Base passes for more control over the elements, then composited back in Nuke for colour grade and final tweaks and fixes.

Thanks for watching :)
