Hey guys!
So I'm trying to teach myself some 2D Animation in Flash/the programme Adobe Flash in general. I've been looking at a few tutorials online, but I'm a bit stumped.
Firstly, Onion Skin isn't working for me? I can't quite work out what I am doing wrong. I've attached an image. I'm trying to get it to work within the key frames of the same layer, which I think shouldn't be an issue. So for example, in the image I've selected a key-frame, got onion skin turned on and the bar is covering my selected frame. Shouldn't my frame be more prominent, and all the other ones be dimmed out? This is what I would like to happen, so I can edit selected keyframes more easily because I'm not visually impaired with the other frames information.
Am I working this right? I hope I'm explaining it obviously enough, all the on-line tutorials are telling it should work, I must have a setting I'm missing but I just can't work it out.

Next problem:
Okay, so you can edit key frames within a layer to get motion. Say I want a leg to love, how do people keep this colour within the outline when they're editing the outline for movement? Heres a video of what I mean:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx1RGMX ... 46AB#t=186

So shes edited the tail to flick at different stages, how do you apply the colour to all the different 'stages' without having to edit each key frame individually? To begin with its just a plain grey, across all the motion but they she applies the textured layer and its automatically carried through to each 'key frame' of that layer. I was just wondering how that is done?

Thank you for your time!

LOL. Okay so I figured out my key-framing issue... you have to ERASE each key-frame before you draw another one. Herpa derp. xD I was essentially trying to draw over the same image in a new key-frame and wondering why it wouldn't dissapear! Okay! That makes sense now. Big whoops.

I'm still having trouble with my other issue however!

 UPDATE: Okay, I *think* I've solved my other question too, but its lead to another... :|
I figured she is probably editing each key-frame of motion individually, and I've sussed out the import bitmap feature, and figured out you can use this with the 'fill'/'bucket' tool to fill in pieces (such as the tail flick.)
I still can't suss out how to change the tint of the layer as a whole though!

Eg. In the video, she changes the hue of the tail and it instantly carries through into all keyframes. I've tried converting my image back into a 'graphic symbol' (so I have a motion AND graphic symbol now) and I can edit the tint of the graphic symbol under properties, but it will only change the keyframe that is currently present. This is going to be extremely tedious to get the exact same tint in each single keyframe, theres gotta be something simpler
:thankyou:

Sorry, no idea how to use Flash. Good to see you solved some issues though!

Hopefully someone can answer...

Hi,Caldera,

I guess I can help you.I will post with pictures these days.At the moment i am in a cafe cant really aceess a flash interface.flash queit simple. the main short cut keys are F6 for key frame .F8 TO CREATE A SYMBOL. F7 for empty keyframe.

for example

if we are doing a human walk cycle

the entire body is done inside a symbol

first we draw like in illustrator or photoshop

but in layers

head in one layer

hand another

leg another

left leg another

these are in a symbol called example body

the n each part you can click f8 to make it a symbol

making symbol is neede if you want to motion tween them

motion tween is if you want move a ball from one end of screen to the other
you just draw the ball

press f8 to make it a symbol ,name it ball or any name

then press f6 to make a keyframe . so

you have a drawing in the first frame

then in the frame you want the ball to reach the other (according to your timing) , say 20 th frame drag the ball to postion and press f6 so you have a drawing at the other end

so there will be one dot on your timeline(keyframe) on Ist frame another dot on the tenteith frame

nothin in between ,if you are tweening

then right click on the timeline between the keys and in the dropdown menu select classic tween (this was motion tween three four years ago) and your ball will move from one end to the other

however if you want to do it classical 2d style ,you have to draw each frame or in twos every other frame
same procedure

draw first frame f6

draw next on the next frame in time line location f6

and so on
yes onoin skin should work properly

i think its the first icon . but to the other drawing you go to the top of the timeline and move the square brackets and they change color on top of time line , this shows the range of keys you can view

I shall post later .with pictures
I have few works in 2d section the how the champions damaged world cup and he saves using flash

see you later

sorry if the message was too basic . I hope I will be to answer your question. rgarding how you change the tint . if I got this right. there is an icon after the onon skin ,edit multiple frames , click it ,move the range and select the range of key frames you want to change .and change the colour by that all the keyframes would have changed color , same if you want to move them

or it could be in layers within

for example the tail you change from brown to black

the outline could be another drawing undreneath .slightly wider than the drawing on top

so even top color changes outline remain same

to cahnge shape of the tail

you have to use shape tween

that is draw the tail

and in onther key frame

click the dots( like in photoshop .and manipulate them to the desired shap ,dont change them drastically or else the shape tween wont work particularly well ,you can use a shape hint to help you.see you )
