Fricken swear I've tried everything. I've rigged the head and blendshapes very different this time around but I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with it. I remember thinking this issue was a simple unlock and carry on. But never have really put my finger on it ? Any ideas what is causing this . Make paintable maybe ? hmmm will try that now.

You didn't actually say what the problem is. I see a Maya brush too... but no idea which tool it is.

Weight painting. I've bound the mesh to the joints. This x pops up and I can't paint the weights ?

Maybe post a screen grab of your tool settings window. Not sure what it would be, but make sure a joint is selected in the list... if for some reason no joints are selected, the brush tool may not want to paint.

So it ended up being one of those beautiful things Maya does to you, when your vulnerable. It was just a glitch, after leaving the comp raging 2pm in the morning. I cut my hair, had a shower then came back. Tada it was working. Restarting the scene over and over didn't work but leaving it for a while then coming back argh got to love Maya :bounce:

I think you might have a poltergeist. No biggie, you just have to confuse it. Start wearing your underpants on your head, refer to all electronic items as 'George', and occasionally duck for no reason what so ever.
