Yes, a few years back now, though I've only just managed to get around to watch. I liked it a lot.

The reason it's taken so long for me to watch is because of the scandal around digital artist layoffs, lack of acknowledgement at the Oscars and all that was going on back then. At the end of the credits, there was a final note "The making and legal distribution of this film supported over 14,000 jobs and involved over 600,000 work hours." which I understand is a generic message being put out these days and is only coincidentally ironic to the industry events of the time.

But what became of the aftermath? Did the past wrongs eventually get righted, or are we somehow supporting media corruption (e.g. paying the media houses but not the workers) if we now purchase "The Life of Pi" dvd?

It's fine to buy it. The problem existed before Life of Pi, and still exists. If we stop watching movies, there will be no industry at all. That would be worse.

Cool movie. Seen it a couple of times.
