Where is Tusken? And why do they raid?

Not where, who. Tusken is the alien race (as in not human) or, arguably the culture of the "Sand People" from planet Tatooine. "Raider" is more a description of their behaviour, roaming around in savage packs. But you knew that already. ;)

Actually... "where" is a valid question. The sand people of Tatooine spent 3 years attacking a settlement called Fort Tusken, which is how they came to be known as Tusken Raiders.

I don't know why they raid.

Ah so they raid a place called Tusken, I always thought of them as Raiders from Tusken. That changes everything.

What I wanna know is how come I've seen all the movies several times and I'm still newbie to some of these infos? I swear Lucas has to be just around the corner with his little blue hammer, reinventing everything just seconds before I get to read it.

hi i only just noticed this board.... my name is daniel and im in Napier :(
i graduated from eit 3 years of hell, in my interview i was told that I could learn 3d modeling and animation there... they lied, the only 3d stuff they taught was architecture, so i spent 2 years nagging and nagging for permission to teach my self, finally they gave in and i began to teach my self blender from youtube videos unfortunately i saw a modeling video where someone made a man out of boxes then subdivided it heaps of times then sculpted all the detail, so i naively thought thats how you model, thanks to this forum who have have taught me about edge loops and topology

Hi Daniel, shame about the course, but good to hear you're learning some valuable concepts here. Keep on posting your modelling! ;)

Hm... probably not the right place to invite discussion on modeling techniques (Hi ra8id_ra88it... welcome in), though I thought I'd mention that face extrusion modeling (usually starting with a box as you've described) is a valid and fairly widely used practise. Often different approaches are mixed (right now I'm starting a hand as a box, adding edgeloops and extruding out the fingers... I will be shuffling around individual edges and vertices later on). Subdividing heaps does not sound good though... the edgeflow should support the form. In the end the "good" and "bad" are the final product.

But yes... back to topic; welcome aboard. 8-)

thanks for the welcome....ahh i get that but this dude didnt bother with loops he just "subsurfed" the box many times looking back i wish i found out about loops and topology instead of modleing characters by sculpting subdivided shapes i would be a much better modeler but atleast with that practice im quite good with sculpting on zbrush or mudbox.....every cloud has a silver lining 8-)
