For the final project of my degree, I'm adapting designs from Kim Stanley Robinson's book 'Red Mars' for a hypothetical film.

This thread is going to be a record and (hopefully) ongoing discussion about Robinson's designs in a visual context. I'll be spamming as many designs as I can non-stop for the next three months.

As always, feedback is welcome :D

Long-range rover concept.

Love the cabin windows on number two, and the airlock on number one. Don't forget the deployable transponders for automatic rover navigation!

Hahaha! My god your right! Perhaps slightly more serious robo arms are in order.

Anyway, here's some transponder ideas.

This project looks sooo cool! I love the colour palette, the green really looks great against the Mars reddy orange. Good ol' colour theory ay :)

Exactly! I had green in mind right from the beginning for that very reason. But on the flip side, it's gonna get very old very fast lol. I think some creative solutions are in order. If you've got any ideas go a head and fire away.

Actually, if anyone wants to contribute ideas or work to this project at all, everyone is welcome. The book I'm collating it all together in at the end is going to be my own stuff but it'd be pretty choice if there was w whole collective of Robinson's designs.

Todays work.

Environments are not my strong point.

Senzeni Na Mohole ( a good explanation http://kimstanleyrobinson.info/w/index.php5?title=Mohole).

A Moholes plume and excavation pile (paintover).

And a concept for Echus Overlook (http://kimstanleyrobinson.info/w/index.php5?title=Echus_Overlook) the headquarters of the Martian terraforming effort.
