Hi,

My name is Johnny Stewart and work in Tauranga running courses using Vue6, CryEngine 2, I can Animate and Poser. Would like to know if there is anyone out there using Vue 6 or CryEngine 2 for Landscape animations. I teach students aged 6 through to adults many things. Here is some of my students work from 2007.

Well I use Cryengine 2.....for playing Crysis! :P But I have also played around with the editor a bit, and exporting things from maya into the sandbox.

I've had a little play with cryengine2. Never used it seriously. Also done a small amount of imagery with Vue but personally think the interface is amaturish and frustrating. Textured viewports are horrible!! It can really do some spectacular enviroments though!

Definitely has it's advantages over trying to build it all yourself... and ILM sure does show how useful it is! I had read previously that they had used it on Pirates. One day I'll have to have a better look at it.

Work is currently running Vue5 and i mucked around with vue6 +stream (MAX user) plug in in my own time really cool to use. Love the speed to suck it back and forth from max to Vue and back again. Sadly we work on accurate terrain for a locations and dont need to render to close up shots of venues and found it faster animate&render a scene by just using a DEM file as displacement map on a colour sat photo with a few masks for oceans, lakes & Rivers. That and the fact we only have one licence for Vue

but wished i had more time to learn and use it fully.

i used the unreal engine 2 quiet a bit and well its a good free way of making a 3d scene cos it mostly come down to texturing.
(unreal 3 is on my to do list but did have time to export some models and import some textures into the engine easy from max)
