hey guys, this looks fun and I like crazy robots so this is what I have sofar, made some previs geo of the old school tin robots to get some ideas going and then was thinking of how it would move, liking the tank wheels on some of toy robots but started thinking of a weird robot/roman crossover? (i've been playing a bit of Civilization lately)

scribbled over previs geo and thought the body armour could have decorative patterns of cogs and switches, maybe he could have some sort of space javelin :)

maybe a horse with pieces like the female robot from Metropolis

Hey Kurt! Great to see you entering the comp! Love that pic of the horses pulling the robot! Does the robot have wheels, or is it standing in a chariot?

cheers roger, i'm thinking he will be attached to the wheels like the tin toy robots, maybe a disc so he can pivot at his waist though.

couple of days progress here, worked on robot and made the space javelin and created some pieces to decorate the chest and wheels, have left the horse to the side at moment so not much done there. trying to get the wire on the head to look like the laurel wreath. made a quick lighting test and posed him with groups, might break up the arms further so I can get better pose, only some of the head parts have a smooth in the render so far.

I have a feeling this will have lots of detail... if your previous work is anything to go by! Looking forward to seeing more!

update with work done on the horse and some ground, I've been using the statue of Boudica as reference, not happy with the two horses, its a bit busy, added a foldable wing with some weapons but its a bit much i think. Augmentus is getting a bit lost in behind, when I look more at the reference image it has the bronze figure standing quite tall on the chariot.

Wow looking good man, the horse heads look awesome, they definitely bring the doom vibe to the image. The one thing that feels a bit off is the spear/flag pole, the cloth in its current position is a bit stiff. I think the cloth could be longerand flow further behind so that its form is clear. At the moment it is bunched and is merging with the form of the spear. Also the laurel wreath could do with some work, but I am guessing you have not got to it yet.

Good work he could be a horseman of the apocalypse.

Yeah, might be better to simplify the horses, so the dude stands out more.

Holy modelling batman. One horse might solve all your horse busyness issues. It's literally half as busy as two. Robot horses are stronger right? One could probably manage that thing all by itself. Especially with rocket wings.

hey guys cheers for the feedback!

removed a horse and it helps straight away with composition and silhouette, added some more details overall and made some wheat, removed the average flag and changed the space javelin to a roman banner type thing, started making a metal eagle for it but it looked a bit too nazi-ish, was going to add some more detail to the wreath/metal curls on the head before end of week.

That's looking sweet! I like how the spokes on the wheels kinda look like his hands.

Final submission, Augmentus 1950 AD, didn't get time to do any last tweaks except outputting the last renders, I'll texture this project at some point and update my progress. Cheers.
