Hey yall,

Even I can't deny I like a man with a good set of lungs so I'm in it to win it just soz I can prop that sweet-looking prize on my already cluttered desk.

Got a couple ideas floating in my head:

First is a concept of a young african american boy dressed in a tattered white suit with day of the dead face paint on, standing in an abandoned chicken processing plant. Still thinking of how to further develop it but I want it to be a play on KFC and how fast food chains are adding to the destruction of our youth. Like I said, still working on it.

The other idea is a kid dressed in Ronald McDonald costume in an abandoned playground with a scarier varient of clown face paint. Again, alone and to convey the same message. A slightly easier visual message possibly.

The third idea is to do the scary 70-ish old guy who always dresses in dated women's clothes and wears a ridiculous wig when he walks up Pitt street and hangs out along Karangahape Rd. Never heard him speak but funny story: one day he came to sit on the seats on Beresford Square where a homeless guy was already sitting. Now the homeless guy was pretty rough around the edges but the funny thing was even he wasn't about to lower himself to the standard of sitting next to this cross-dressing old man with a wig likened unto Wilma Flintstone. The homeless guy got up to walk away, muttering under his breath, only to receive the scariest bellow from this old guy I had ever heard. The barage of insults would have been expected from a burly oil rigger but this guy completely broke character cussing at the homeless guy in a loud baritone voice. Quite the sight to behold!!
It kinda reminded me of the Jerry Springer episodes where the transvestite is all fake until a black chick talks some smack about him. Then when a fight breaks out 'Tyra' suddenly remembers 'her' boxing training back when she was better known as 'Tyrone'!
For that reason, I think this cross-dresser qualifies as someone I would most likely not want to leave a bench for, let alone walk past on the street.

Thoughts anyone?

I like the second one. Might be tricky to pull off without any textures.. but of course you can texture it just don't submit the textured version for the comp.

Maybe you could somehow fuse the first and second, that way we can clearly get the message that fast food is the harbinger of misfortune.

Personally, I don't see the relevance of the last one, in fact I actually feel sorry for the poor cross dressing old man, obviously he has to live with this kind of prejudice everyday when all he really wants is to be himself. Actually, in saying that could be construed as a harbinger of misfortune but from a completely different point of view. I actually had a similar idea, I was going to do a vagrant on street corner but decided not too because I didn't want to send the wrong message. But then again it's entirely up to you, art is art if it gets a reaction what ever that reaction may be.

Ahh, no textures, I forgot about that. Will have to do some awesome bump, whichever idea I decide.

As for the cross-dresser, had to be there bro! You'd feel sorry for the homeless guy the way he was being talked to, believe me. I think maybe they had history..anyway, lonely homeless cross-dresser, longing to be accepted yet destined to be ignored, ditched.

Guess I'll play it safe with Ronald Junior. If anyone's still confused on the concept, picture some of the artwork done for the doco, Upsize Me.

I is out.

Aha! Good to see you're on board morph! Freaky clowns... aways disturbing. I like it. Yeah, bump map the face to fake the face paint... I guess.

Haha don't ditch an idea because i question it, if its something you passionate about run with it. I do like the ronald one though, it sends a message. Wont stop me from eating my Boss burger every now and then tho.
