Helloooooo!! :jumpclap:

It's been a wee while since our last NZCGI competition, and fortunately for us we just scored some AWESOME books which we know you'd just love to have!

We will be announcing the competition theme shortly along with details (in the competition forum), but in the meantime we thought we'd show you the loot!

Prizes:
The Art of District 9. Lots of coooool concept art from Weta artists for the scifi feature flick District 9.
More info here: http://www.wetanz.com/the-art-of-distri ... -workshop/
* This copy is courtesy of Weta and comes with the strictly limited edition MNU Alien tagging stencil printed on heavy (300gsm) stock and signed by District 9 designers.

White Cloud Worlds. It is a never-before seen collection of science fiction and fantasy artwork by 27 established and emerging artists in New Zealand.
More info here: http://www.whitecloudworlds.com/about.php
* This copy is courtesy of Harper Collins.

As a bonus gift, we also scored a copy of "99 Dodgy Slips", which is 99 colour paintings of naked women slipping on banana peels. You heard me. Created by Greg Broadmore on his Nintendo DS while passing time in various places.
More info here: http://gregbroadmore.blogspot.com/2008/ ... slips.html
* This copy is courtesy of Greg Broadmore.

This sounds sweet guys I’m in, Hopefully the topic is nice and broad. Is this a painting competition? because I’m pretty much hopeless at 3D :S

I'm putting together the brief at the moment, but it is currently leaning towards 'hard surface' (not a character/creature as we have previously done). I think 'painting' (photoshop etc) or 'modelling' will be optional. I'm trying to keep the workflow broad so more people can enter. You will most likely be creating an render/painting as the final submission. Stay tuned!

painting and modeling in same competition. interesting. kinda easier to paint a robot than model one.

Full competition brief will be revealed on Friday night.

Because you will be creating a concept, you will be able to use either digital painting or 3D modelling or a combination of both. It may also be hardsurface or organic, or a combination of both - up to you. :bounce:
