Hey wikz, thanks for sharing your work. Your art skills look good and it's reflected in your modelling. Definitely keep practicing both those skills! The turn tables showed some bad deformation around the joints, which I assume is from rigging for animation. When you do a still model turntable, you should take the mesh off the rig (once posed) and re-sculpt it so the model looks good. The point of the turntable after all is to show your modelling/sculpting skills. If you want to show rigging and deformation, stuff needs to move... and show correct deformation of joints and muscle/skin.

I'd say the animation in your reel is taking the quality down, particularly that guy walking and the edit you've done - the weird sudden zoom in on the ball, then sudden cut back out. At about 1min45 you introduce some moving objects, there seems to be no point to that animation, so I'd remove it from your reel. If you want to get into 'animation', you'd probably have to study at another school with a better animation curriculum. The best would be Animation Mentor (online, and expensive), but there are other schools in NZ that would improve your skills, like MDS (plug!).

But I reckon you should definitely keep on working on that modelling.

Hey Worzel Thanks for your feedback it was really helpful. I really need to fix up my show reel or more like create some better quality work. I also looked up that 11 second club site which is an awesome free resource for animation and practicing animation. Well I created a animation using one of their rigs, this was for a job test so I thought I would Share it. I am going to work on improving my animation skills. so critiques are welcome. Also some more sketches n stuff.

Some of those earlier ones are really nice dude. I think the main thing holding you back is I feel your drawing too much from imagination and not applying any solid knowledge, and that's one of the things that gives those top artists the edge. Imagination is great for the spark but if you can't make it convincing you'll always fall short.

Very cool stuff overall, some good potential. I did a rough paint over of my favorite image of yours just to point out another minor crit. I noticed on that one you went into detail way too early (IMO) It could just be because we approach painting differently but I've always found it better to get the values working first before detail (after planning scene out first of course), it just saves a lot of mucking around later on.

Keep it up man...

Rusty: Hey Rusty thanks for the Sweet Crit, The Paint over is awesome. I get what you mean with the starting to early on the detail its prob why I ran out of steam on this one. I guess I need to get out more and do some life drawing, I have been looking at some of Jaime Jones work and his forms and proportions are perfect, so I guess they get that from drawing the world around them. well that's me, put down the tablet pickup the pencil ill post my progress. Chur.

I went to the white cloud workshop over the weekend and it was awesome. I was in the Z brush workshop with Scott Spencer who is an awesome teacher and artist. I was able to create this sea creature while I was there.

Nice work Wikz I think his smile is a bit scary but the overall design is awesome. I would look more into the finer detail like the material of the skin and where colors change love the designs man. Whats with the thing on top of his head?
