Hey guys, haven't post for ages, so thought I would start a new sketchy book on stuff I have been mucking around on

This was from last year, will finish this one up eventually, would quite like to get it printed. This was originally made for a comp that was on cghub but never finished it on time.

This was for another comp, I think it was for movie aliens, so I went for Battle for L.A, since the designs were really refreshing. But got to busy at work and had to drop it, was a fun one to work on since it was all asymmetry. If you haven't seen the concept design for these guys it is pretty sweet, by a guy Paul Gerrard http://www.gerrardart.com

Hey Jayson! Long time no see! Nice work man. I like the detail in the woman holding the gun.

Heya Roger, yeah it has been ages, hope things are well. Thanks - she was great fun to make.

Here is a new fella I have been working on lately, just about to start some pose tests, still working out his textures at the moment. Plan is to get this guy 3d printed

Those long dangly bits sticking out of his 'nose' may not print so well. SplattR has been printing a bunch of things using one of those cheapo ones, and I'm not sure that this alien would print smoothly around the snoutage using a cheap printer... maybe with super high res. Not sure how it works though! What/where are you thinking of printing it?

I like the blue coloured dude.

oatestwder- Yeah the render I am planning on doing is like the old school general portraits. There are more accessories to come, but the general story behind it is that the humans who are taking this fellows picture thought it would be good for a laugh to get him holding a smoking pipe as if he is smoking it, not to fussed if it doesn't translate well, just was really something that made me giggle :)

Roger - Thanks for the heads up, yeah I might have to make the antennas thicker. There are a couple of places down here in welly I am going to talk t. If they cant I will find a place overseas to get it done. Still working out where to cut the head, arms and legs should be pretty easy. There are a few people at work that get stuff made so will run things past them for some good tips. I will post up any info I find out for other people.

there's a place on vivian street that my mates get pieces printed at, I'm seen them and there good quality. I'll try and find the name. If you print online I've used Shapeways a number of times. there excellent, you don't have to optimise anything for printing as they do it for you. They also have a tool to work out minimum thickness and such which would help with your alien.

Just watched the Shapeways vid on their site. They use much better technology than those little desktop 3d printers! haha. Makes me want to get something 3D printed now...

oatestwder - Thanks for that, yeah Shapeways was mentioned to me, I will definitely hit them up, I really want to try Ownage as well sometime, apparently they can paint your model to, which I would be interested in checking out for future projects.

roger- Yeah definitely get into it, I can imagine your desk being covered in a army of Sebastian posed models :P

whoaaa things have changed around here, looking fancy. Anywhoo Put this together as part of the DarkStalker competition on the facebook 3d Anime comp. I went for a bit of a redesign instead of a straight copy, was really good Fun, I missed the deadline but we have been having way to good of a summer to miss. Giving it a break before finishing it off. All shaders are ready to go in maya, going to go back and redo the chest bandages, then will get them all textured up.

Here are some zbrush render, one of the biggest zbrush models I have done I think so far, was around 47 to 48 subtools, anyways onto planning the next project :) Happy creating guys n gals

Hey Jayson! Good to see ya back here! Yep, overhauled the design, wanted something that showed off the artwork a lot more.

Cool model. What's the story behind the detached arm?

Yeah it is looking good.

The character is Anakaris from Darkstalkers game, for the comp you could choose from any of the characters from the game. Basing the pose on this image
I am going back re-doing the bandages now I am not in hurry to meet a deadline. I will probably do a few stills and a turn table.

During my break from this last week, I have started planning out the next project fan art piece I want to make which should be a fun one, this will be more of a scene environment and all which will be nice.
