Its been a while since I've updated!
We did some thumbnails in class, and I started a speed painting of one of them. Not sure if I'll finish it yet. :)

Cool. How long did you spend on the speed painting?

UPDATE: We worked a bit more on it in class! Here we are... :)
Not too pleased with it, I think next time I'll chose something with drastic perspective as I really need to work on that.

Stuffs looking cool!

But again you need to establish a horizon line. The ship and the ridge the guy is standing on are in different perspectives, you shouldn't be able to see the ground beneath him. at the moment he's standing on almost a shear cliff.

Thanks! Good points, in my speed paint I had the ground not visible, not too sure why I changed it! Oops
Hmm, definitely need to work on horizon lines/perspective, I just find it so hard to grasp! Not sure why I'm finding it so challenging, maybe I should start making technical drawing studies a daily thing. :)

Its just practice, observation and above all using reference. You'll get it!

Cheers oatestwder!
I've been practising perspective a bit through class work: We had to do a matte painting (due to next day, so I didn't spend as much time on it as I'd have liked)
There are a few things I'd definitely do different next time, but it was a fun experience!
I've attached the 8 thumbnails, and the final one submitted. We also had to do 4 speed paints, but they aren't very exciting to look at so I'll leave them out.
Theme was: "Matrix meets Fist Full of Dollars".
