Hi Guys,

Bout time I started a sketchbook thread.

So welcome to Dr Chops All-night cutprice surgery!
Lowbudget Photochopped Maya a specialty!

First up - an updated version of my speed painting image.
I've been playing with an animated version - but its rendering and I need to go out. so I'll update it later.

since this is meant to be a sketchbook, and not just "the thing I did this morning"
here a couple sketches that turned into unfinished paints from the last 6months or so

There was a Dr Grodbort comp earlier this year. I started this concept. Began to model it... then got distracted y something at work.
The intent was for a double barrelled raygun... not that you can see that in this ortho.

The result of this weeks TLR class.
playing with metal shaders, layered shaders and layered textures.
Unoptimised render - cos school is closing around my ears

oh and its not my model.

Friends Kids first birthday in a couple of weeks. decided to use it as a reason to get me painting.
Kid likes giraffes. I like giraffes. let the creation begin.

Looking cool dude. Giraffe neck looks square at the top and bottom, not sure if you wanted it looking squarish.

Yeah - it was kind of intended to be square and boxy.. something I was thinking about, but probably over did.

here is the finished. had to rush to last little bit to get it done in time.
not completely happy with icecream, and spent zero time on hand.
but hey - its done.

Wow SplattR, really nice! Like the personality you're putting into these, and the colourful storybook-illustrative style.
I know racing car photoreference says otherwise, though I always think motion blur looks as though it's going the wrong way when it's in front of a moving item like your giraffe's icecream. This might look better if the blur was trailing behind the falling scoops.
