Hey y'all 8-)

Sharpo was kind enough to lend me his Baja Racer model to get some texturing practice, which is the main reason I started this thread. He gave it to me a while ago and I started unwrapping the UVs only to be thwarted by life (and of course myself), so this here thread is to show that it's still on my mind, and hopefully when I have something of worth to show I'll post it up here.

Well your excitement has successfully made me feel bad about not doing anything. Making this thread appears to have been a good option then ;)

Well I started on it :)

Haven't done much, just started with a few simple things to ease my way into it, but progress is progress at this point so hoo-rahh :chopwood:

nice,
are you going to texture as you go or unwrap the whole thing first? have you checked out uvlayout yet?

Yea I'm very OC and ADD so texturing as I go will be a way of doing something different while keeping on the same project :P Yea that uvlayout is quite cool, most of what I've done was done with it. It doesn't like simple things too much sometimes though, but seems to be awesome for complex stuff. We'll see as I get some more done :)

wicked, yeah uvlayout is a great programme.
some god keys that I use alot in uvalyout are:

. : uvlayouts idea of the maya button f (frame)

tab : while pressing tab over the horzontal or vertical lines will make them bold.when flatening uvLayout will make the bold lines straight. you can alternate through and off by pressing the tab button on the uv shell.

ctrl f : auto expand the uv shell. great for expanding the shell before relaxing down.

space f: this is like an auto flatten. it will keep flattening until you press space bar again.

if you need any help with uvlayout let me know. ive spent a trillion hours in it. hahaha.

Small progress - roll cage, rear wing and a couple little bits. uvlayout decided it didn't want to open for me, I thought it may have been the fault of my new graphics driver, but I reinstalled uvlayout and it works fine now, meanwhile that was enough to kill some motivation... lol

liiiiiiitle bit more. Haven't had too much time over the last week (which is a good thing) so I haven't done too much. Focusing on getting the mud to look like mud etc. Still needs a little work on the tank mud, but we'll get there...
